Strategic parking review

Latest updates in your area

Portobello CPZ

In 2021, the ºÚÁÏÉç sought your views on measures to address local parking concerns. Based on the feedback provided, parking controls are proposed to address parking pressures and inconsiderate parking, whilst enabling residents to park closer to their homes and maintaining parking opportunities to serve local businesses and traders.

The public consultation process for the CPZ began on 25 April 2025 and the proposals have been shared with local ward councillors.

For further information, you can view detailed maps of the proposals, or you can visit our .

The proposed CPZ

The ºÚÁÏÉç has sent leaflets to explain the CPZ proposals to all residents and businesses within it.

A CPZ manages all of the available space (typically using parking places or yellow lines) allowing the ºÚÁÏÉç to improve parking issues. The proposed CPZ would operate between 8:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Sunday.

The proposal for Portobello includes several Permit Parking Areas. These are single or small groups of streets where parking is controlled, but parking places are generally not marked. Use of these areas is restricted to permit holders (except in certain marked bays), improving flexibility in terms of where permit holders can park, and reducing sign clutter.

Formal consultation - have your say

The formal consultation in now open. This is part of a legal process where the ºÚÁÏÉç advertises the proposal and seeks feedback from anyone interested in what is being proposed.
